We help Maldivian islands and their businesses grow sustainably.
Atoll Oasis Initiative is a Maldivian NGO. We bring island councils, local businesses and young people together on practical ways to develop small islands without using up the reef, land and water they depend on.
Email us about partneringWhat we do
Sustainable island development
Helping island councils plan for waste, water, energy and the coastline in ways a small island can keep up over time.
Sustainable business growth
Supporting island businesses, from guesthouses to fisheries and farms, that want to grow while looking after the reef and land they rely on.
Practical know‑how for communities
Sharing hands-on sustainability skills with island communities and young people, in plain language and on the island itself.
How we work
We start with the island council. Councils know their island and set its plans, so we work through them, not around them.
With businesses, we look for changes that pay off on the balance sheet and on the reef: lower running costs, less waste, and a better offer for visitors.
Atoll Oasis Initiative is registered with the Maldives Youth Ministry, and young people are central to how we work. We want young Maldivians to lead this work on their own islands.
